2. Summary
Yes, we also process data, depending on your role with our association, more or less. However, the security and confidentiality of personal data are very important to us, and we take all necessary steps to protect it. All our employees are committed to data protection, and access to data is strictly limited to authorized persons depending on the project. Personal data includes names and addresses as well as any information that could identify you. We only use this data if you voluntarily provide it, consent to its collection and processing, or if applicable legal provisions, mainly the GDPR, allow it. We collect personal data for order processing, mainly for donations, for maintaining relationships with donors and supporters, and for informing about our work. To fulfill these tasks, data is shared with third parties, but only under our instructions and when necessary. Corresponding data processing agreements have been concluded with the third parties. A complete list is provided below.
3. Data Processing by Group
Data processing at just human e.V. varies depending on whether you are a visitor, member, volunteer, or donor. It should be noted that sharing personal data is always voluntary or based on legal requirements, and GDPR rights can be exercised at any time.
a) Website Visitors
For visitors, very little happens with your data. To display the page, your IP address is processed by the web server for the duration of your visit, and the website applications store certain access types for 14 days (e.g., 404 errors for missing content). No personal data is stored; only the IP address is anonymized for statistics to track website visitor numbers. More information is provided below.
b) Newsletter Subscribers
If you subscribe to our newsletter, your email address and, if provided, your name will be used to send periodic emails. You can unsubscribe at any time, which also deletes the stored contact data used for this purpose.
c) Volunteers
For volunteers, personal data provided is used to inform you about actions/events or to request assistance. This is tailored individually for each volunteer or project. You can request deletion or modification of contact data at any time via email or phone. The legal basis for processing depends on the context: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR), or a legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in the security of our supporters. Communication occurs via email or phone. Your data is only shared with staff or third parties with explicit consent.
d) Donors
For donors, processing depends on the type of donation. Detailed information about donation types is provided below. just human processes data to handle donations, sponsorships, or other support, always to achieve the statutory goals. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a,b,f) GDPR. Consent can be withdrawn at any time for future purposes, or you may object to data processing under Art. 21(1) GDPR. Donor data is processed as long as necessary for the purpose, contractual obligations, or legal retention periods. Different categories of data may have different purposes and retention periods, up to ten years after the end of the calendar year in which the last support was given. Donations and other support are voluntary. Failure to provide required data prevents donation or support.
e) Contact Requests via Website
You can contact us via our website contact form. Only necessary data, such as your email, is used. Spam filters or plugins may temporarily store anonymized data. Explicit consent is required for any storage beyond this.
f) Visitors of our Social Media Profiles
We use various social media platforms and are partially responsible for data protection. Communication via Facebook & Co. generally involves privacy risks over which we have little control, and many servers are outside the EU. For data security, email or our website is recommended.
4. Which Data is Processed
a) Website
Our website uses SSL and security standards are continuously updated.
- Hosting: The server processes data such as IP address, date/time, visited page, HTTP status, referrer, browser, OS, language. IP addresses are deleted after the visit; other data is anonymized. Hosting provider: Hetzner, servers in Germany/Finland. Full privacy policy: Hetzner Privacy Policy.
- Comments: Visitor comments collect data from the form, IP, and user-agent. Gravatar may create anonymized hashes. IP addresses may be used for illegal comments to protect legal interests.
Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR)
- Cookies: Small text files stored on your device for functionality, security, analytics, and user comfort. Consent is requested unless legally unnecessary. Session cookies are temporary, persistent cookies may last up to 2 years.
General opt-out: Users can revoke consent anytime via browser privacy settings.

- Tracking – Browser sends data (browser, OS, referrer, anonymized IP, timestamp) to server logs for statistics and security.
b) Donations
To donate, we need full name, address, bank details, donation amount, purpose, etc. Address data is stored for tax purposes.
- Online Donations – via SSL to Sozialbank servers. Only encrypted data is transmitted. PayPal exceptions apply. Collected data includes name, address, email, bank details, and donation info.
- PayPal Donations – Data transmitted to PayPal for processing, including name, address, IP, email. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. PayPal may share data for contract fulfillment, identity verification, and credit checks. Users may object, but donation execution may be affected.
c) Email
Our email runs on our own server. Thunderbird is used, which does not process personal data on our end.
d) Newsletter
Newsletter sent via CleverReach (servers in Germany). Sign-up via double-opt-in or events. Email and names are used solely for newsletter purposes. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. Users may unsubscribe anytime; other stored data for donations remain unaffected.
e) Links to Other Websites
Links to partners are highlighted. We are not responsible for their content.
f) Social Media
We are present on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn. Personal data may be processed when contacting us. Data processed according to their privacy policies:
Social media use may involve data transfer outside the EU. Users must use responsibly.
5. Rights of Data Subjects
If personal data is processed about you, you are a data subject under GDPR. Rights include: Right to Access: Request confirmation and copies of your data.
